New Audiences, Bigger Impacts - British Association for Sustainable Sport

BASIS is the sustainability hub serving all levels of sport in the UK, with members from Lord's Cricket Ground and Wimbledon tennis to Arsenal Football Club, the Principality Stadium, The Football Association and BBC Sport. BASIS has partnered multiple iconic venues in switching to renewable energy, reducing waste and eliminating single use plastic.  BASIS has also led ground-breaking work to bring climate change alive for new audiences through sport, through reports including Hit for Six.

I'll run through the work BASIS has done to bring the impacts of climate change alive for new audiences, and the sustainability progress we've been able to drive through the top level of sport in the UK.

FC Nordsjælland and Common Goal:
Matched on Purpose

Common Goal arrived on the football scene in 2017 and immediately grabbed headlines as Juan Mata became the first player to join, donating 1% of his salary to organisations that use football to fight for equality, ending poverty and social justice.

In 2018, FC Nordsjælland became the first club in the world to join, and this match is no accident. What’s the significance? The club – part of the Right to Dream Group – is founded on a belief that players can be grown and developed in a way that places equal weight on their growth as humans, and discovering one’s purpose.

​The club and Common Goal both believe that another football is possible, and are fighting to transform the game from within.

Carlsberg x LFC: All red for the Mighty Reds

Carlsberg and Liverpool FC have been partners since 1992, and to celebrate the longest standing partnership in Premier League, the Danish brewer brewed a special red beer in 2019. The beer was made with a unique naturally red barley to complement the color of the famous all red kit that Liverpool FC players have worn since 1964 and was launched leading up to the 2019 Champions League Final.

LaLiga & Women's Football: #WeSpeakTheSameGame

The presentation will go through the diferent initiatives and strategies carried out by LaLiga and the Clubs to increase the visibility of the Womens Football competitions and develop a valuable product for fans, brands, broadcasters and relevant stakeholders.

LaLiga was the first men´s professional competition to get actively involved in the development of Womens Football, using its wide knowledge in running a succesful professional competition to help the competition, organized by the Spanish Royal Football Federation, and its clubs, most of which are part of LaLiga.
